The multi-talented Watermill Ensemble is touring the UK with two Shakespeare productions, with a supernatural theme.
Our senior consultant Andrew Weltch reviewed A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the classic romantic comedy of fairies and love spells, for our companion hyperlocal site Rhiwbina Info, when it opened at the New Theatre, Cardiff last night (Tuesday October 8th).
Tonight, the cast perform the much darker tale of witchcraft, ambition and murder, Macbeth.
Andrew described Dream as “an energetic and hugely entertaining adaptation”.
He added: “The talented cast of ten take on multiple roles and play musical instruments too, as the action is punctuated with well-judged and brilliantly performed soulful songs by the likes of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke, and Laura Mvula – including a show-stopping version of My Baby Just Cares for Me.”
The two productions continue in Cardiff until Saturday, and then move to the Theatre Royal, Norwich, next week (October 15th).
