Our film Annalium 8: Sssss has achieved two more successes – winning its first award in a new South Wales competition and being selected for inclusion in a prestigious festival in India.
The film has been awarded Best Short Film in the inaugural Celynen Film Festival, based in Newbridge, South Wales.
It will be screened, along with the other winners, at the historic Newbridge Memo (in header picture) on Saturday 25 May, 11am – 4pm. Admission is free.
The film was previously screened at the Memo last October as a curtain-raiser for The Exorcist.
Meanwhile, the judges at the Royal India Short Film Festival have selected it for inclusion, with a chance for further success when winners are announced on Sunday 26 May.
This follows last week’s news that it will be screened as part of the official selection at the Wild Indie SciFi and Fantasy Film Festival in London next Saturday, 18 May.
Annalium 8: Sssss from Weltch Media and Annalium Films was jointly produced by our own Andy Weltch and the scriptwriter Rob Lancey.
“This news is a fantastic endorsement for our hugely talented team,” said Andy. “It’s a busy time for festival announcements, and it’s gratifying to see the film being recognised by judges locally, nationally and globally.”
Directed by Andrew ‘Griff’ Griffin, the film stars Francesca Louise White and Minaii Baelfire. Francesca is an award-winning actress, who had the main role in our popular lockdown comedy promo video With a T, and Minaii holds the distinction of being the world’s first Black Young Elsa in a stage production of Frozen.
