The 2018 Mendips Raceway schedule has been published – including the Weltch Media West of England Hot Rod Championship.
The printed fixture lists give details of all the events at the famous West Country race track this season, running through the summer until October.
When our copies arrived at the office this week, we couldn’t help but highlight the Monday August 27th meeting, featuring the Weltch Media West of England Hot Rod Championship.
One of the longest-established championships for hot rods, the annual race attracts top drivers from throughout the south and west of England.
With their highly-tuned 2-litre engines and lightweight carbon-fibre body shells in the shape of recognisable road cars, hot rods provide a motor sport spectacle which can be seen as a scaled-down version of American NASCAR-style racing or the British Touring Car Championship.
The meeting also features banger caravan racing and Reliant Robins figure-8 racing, as well as the budget saloon car class, Special Rods.
Among the other highlights at the raceway this season is the BriSCA Formula 2 stock car World Championship final, which takes place on Saturday September 8th.
