Our sponsored player Danni Wyatt was among the scorers as Torquay United Women opened their league campaign with a 4-2 win at Bishops Lydeard.
Without key midfielders, Daisy Self and Rhi Bailey, Torquay went ahead when Laura May connected with a Beth Everson cross.
Ellie Bishop made it 2-0 before Beth scored the third.
The hosts pulled one back through a penalty for handball, but Danni made it 4-1, when she chipped the ball over the Bishops Lydeard keeper.
The Somerset team scored another to leave it 4-2, giving Torquay their first win in the South West Women’s Premier League since 2019.
Danni, who was Torquay’s top scorer in preseason, with 11 goals in eight games, said: “We were all really pleased with today’s performance and the result. That’s a great start and now we get ready for next week when we face a strong Ilminster team at home.”
