Danielle Wyatt, our sponsored player at Torquay United Ladies FC, could be sidelined for two to three weeks after suffering a collarbone injury in Sunday’s game.
Torquay drew 1-1 in the South West Women’s League Premier Division clash with Charlestown [Sunday 11thFebruary 2018], and Danielle was praised as one of the stand-out players for the ‘Gullettes’.
But a challenge on an opposing player resulted in her rupturing her acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) – her collarbone coming away from its joint and tearing the ligaments.
“It’s very painful, but the doctor says it should be ok within two or three weeks,” she told us. “With good treatment, I’m expecting it to be sooner.
“It’s my left side, and I’m left-handed, so double bad luck – I’ve been told no movement, so I’ll be off work for a few days. But when the swelling goes down, I’ll start physio, and should be back in no time!”
Danielle has been with the club for four years, and was TULFC’s top scorer in the 2015/16 season. She recently dual-registered with Buckland Athletic to play in their reserve team, when not required by Torquay.
“The idea is to give me more training time and more game time, so I can really step up my development,” she said.
Danielle is also a keen boxer and is applying for her licence this year. She works at Darby & Darby Solicitors in Torquay, and is studying for a Law and Practice Diploma.
Sponsoring Danielle reflects Weltch Media’s enthusiasm for sport, as one of our specialist areas, having worked with clients in golf, motor sport, cricket, tennis, swimming and athletics in other areas.
In 2018, we are partnering with Mendips Raceway to present the West of England Hot Rod Championship in August.
TULFC still has some sponsorship opportunities available – details are available from the club.
