Our national hot rod racer Mark Shelper was back in action yesterday (Sunday 2 June) – and back in the results.
Bristol-based Mark took his Peugeot (number 788) to 6th and 8th places in the heats and 14th in final at Aldershot Raceway.
It was the final world championship qualifying round of the English series, but Mark had already missed out on qualification after a run of bad luck.
“It was a bit better results wise,” he said. “But the car wasn’t as good as it has been.
“We changed a few things but couldn’t really improve it.
“We owe a big thank-yopu to Harrison Bryant at Harrison Bryant Motorsport for making some new suspension arms in time for the meeting.”
The Weltch Media logo has been on Mark’s Peugeot 206cc since the start of the 2022 season, continuing our long-standing involvement in motorsport.
Mark made headlines in 2022 by being the only driver from the South West to qualify for the world championship final.
National hot rods are the top level of short track racing in the UK, with sophisticated lightweight production-car replicas whose engines produce around 240bhp.
