The English Youth Ballet takes its production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake to York next month as part of its ongoing commitment to performing full-length classical ballets in regional theatres, giving young dancers outside London a rare opportunity to perform in a professional production.
Our senior consultant Andrew Weltch reviewed the company’s visit to Cardiff for our companion hyperlocal site Rhiwbina Info, describing it as “a night to remember” for the “talented local youngsters” who joined the professionals on stage.
The talented local youngsters, aged 8-18, were selected at a huge audition at the New Theatre in February, and performed with the ballet’s professional principal dancers, including Samantha Camejo, Mark Biocca, Claire Corruble and Monica Tapiador.

EYB‘s Swan Lake plays York, September 27-28. There are then performances of Aurora’s Wedding/ Ballet Etudes at Stamford, October 23-25, and Cinderella in Hollywood at Portsmouth, November 22-23.
