Our sponsored player Danni Wyatt helped Torquay United Women to another big pre-season win yesterday (Sunday 4 August) – a 7-0 victory at Weymouth.
“It was a really good run-out again this weekend for us,” said club captain Danni. “A few debuts for our new signings this week, so we’re still working on the team and all learning to play together.
“A really good result with seven goals! Really pleased with how pre season is going so far.”
Lucy Solloway scored a hat trick, Gracie Procter two goals and Sam Burnham and Lexie Watts scored one each.
Danni, who is recovering from a foot injury, played the first 45 minutes and came on again for the last 10.
We first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the league and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award.
In 2022, she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.
And back in 2020, she was among our friends who featured in the popular lockdown comedy promo video With a T.
Torquay will be playing in the South West Regional Women’s Football League, at the fifth level of the English pyramid, and looking for promotion back to the FA National League.
Danni told us she’s excited about the new season and the new management team.
