Congratulations to our sponsored player Danni Wyatt and her Torquay United teammates, who booked their place in the first round of the Vitality FA Cup with a 5-2 win over Royal Wootton Bassett yesterday (Sunday 23 October).
“It was a great result,” Danni said. “I expected nothing less when we reflect on last week’s shift vs Exeter. With Jana [Richards] injured we looked to adjust the back line accordingly so saw Laura Lewis step up; and there were some great attacking displays from us.”
First half goals from Tracey Cross and Mia Preston saw Torquay 2-1 up at the break. Two from Ocean Latto and a goal from Kiara Robins made it 5-1 before the visitors got a late consolation goal in stoppage time.
Danni, whose injured knee held up for a good 60 minutes of the game, also found the net with a header, but it was ruled offside. 
Torquay will now face another South West League Premier Division team, Warminster Town Ladies FC away on Sunday 13 November in the first round proper.
Weltch Media first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the South West Women’s Premier League and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award. Last season she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.
