We are excited to announce we’re making our first animated film.
After the success of our award-winning, live-action short in collaboration with Annalium Films, Annalium 8: Sssss, we’re now joining forces with Cardiff-based animator Matthew Creed for our next project.
A Fish Out of Water is a short, Victorian, fantasy-drama, scripted by our Andy Weltch with Robert Lancey, from Andy’s original story. It’s described as “A tale of the fantastical and bizarre”.
Matthew is the former co-founder and animation director of the award-winning Jammy Custard studios with over 15 years of experience in animated storytelling, who will direct and lead the animation.
He was the animation director on Foolish Mortals, the upcoming point-and-click adventure game, and has produced narrative-driven animations for the likes of Premier League Productions, Sky, Reebok, Superdrug, RSPB, and The National Trust.

Robert Daws leads the cast of voice actors
We’re thrilled that the lead character, the journalist Henry Godliman, will be voiced by Robert Daws – a familiar TV face from his leading roles in award-winning and long-running series, including Jeeves and Wooster, Casualty, The House of Eliott and Outside Edge, for which he was nominated best actor in the British Comedy awards.

Francesca Louise White
He has also played major roles in Poldark, Roger Roger, Holby City, Doc Martin, New Tricks, Midsomer Murders, The Royal, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Agatha Raisin, and Sister Boniface Mysteries.
Joining him in the cast are: Francesca Louise White as Lizzie Shepherd, Richard Oliver as Joseph Carhart, and Samantha Hudson as Sarah Babb.
Francesca boasts a wealth of feature film credits including Milk and Honey: The Movie and Jekyll and Hyde, and she was one of the leads in Annalium 8: Sssss.
Richard has had a recurring role in Coronation Street and a major part in the horror game/ movie crossover, I Saw Black Clouds, while Samantha‘s credits include Trapped and Finding My Voice.

The original story A Fish Out of Water was one of several pieces of flash fiction which Andy wrote during the COVID lockdown. They feature Henry Godliman – a Victorian journalist investigating strange phenomena.
“Some of the stories are a bit abstract,” said Andy. “But this one has the potential to work well as a film, and I’m so pleased that we’ve been able to pull together such a talented team to make it happen”.
The film is now in pre-production, and we’ll be sharing updates as we progress.
