Congratulations to our sponsored player Danni Wyatt, who led Torquay United Women to a 2-1 win at Frampton Rangers yesterday (Sunday 2 March) to keep their promotion hopes on track.
In the absence of team captain Tracey Cross, club captain Danni started with the skipper’s arm band and played around an hour of the game.
“Frampton started with one of the earliest goals I’ve seen this season,” said Danni. “I don’t think we touched the ball from kick off and they looped it over the head of Jas [Read].
“We responded well, picked the ball up and heads up, we put two past them [goals by Tee Kaptein and Lexie Watts] to gain the lead and managed the game out. We had loads of chances we didn’t manage to put away. Nevertheless, three valuable points, the injury held up, and I’m feeling great!”
Danni has missed much of the season because of injury, but has been active in the club – not least as a new board member.
Yesterday’s result keeps Torquay in contention for the South West Women’s Regional League Premier Division title and promotion back to the FA National League.
Weltch Media first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the league and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award.

In 2022, she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.

And back in 2020, she was among our friends who featured in the popular lockdown comedy promo video With a T.
