A one-woman play receiving its premiere in Cardiff has been hailed as “a wonderfully entertaining and sometimes moving night at the theatre”.
The praise for The Wife of Cyncoed by Matt Hartley comes from our companion hyperlocal site Rhiwbina Info, where the reviewer, our Andy Weltch described it as “an engrossing, amusing, and often moving play with lots of laughs, some tears, plenty of dancing, and there’s even sex”.
It tells the story of Jayne (Vivien Parry), recently retired and facing an unexpected opportunity and a difficult decision.
“Vivien Parry is absolutely captivating as Jayne,” Andy writes, “convincingly drawing us into her world and its people. We really feel her joy, sorrow, excitement, and fears. And on press night last night (Tuesday 12 March) she received a well deserved standing ovation”.
