Huge congratulations to Torquay United Women and our sponsored player, club captain Danni Wyatt, who secured the South West Women’s League Premier Division title yesterday (Sunday 30 April).
Torquay finished top of the league with a 1-0 victory over Royal Wootton Bassett, through an Emma Hunt goal at the end of the first half.
They remained unbeaten at home all season and had the league’s best defensive record.
The league title promotes them to the fourth tier of English football for the first time, with a place in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South West.
On social media today (Monday), Danni posted: “I can honestly say this Torquay squad have my whole heart and nothing less, and this means absolutely everything.
“Special thank you to my sponsor Weltch Media who has supported my journey for years with this club”.
We first sponsored Danni in the 2017/18 campaign, when she helped Torquay to third place in the league and to the final of the Devon Cup and won the goal of the season award.
Last season she helped Torquay to a sensational victory in the Devon FA Cup Final and was named club player of the season.
And in 2020, she was among our friends who featured in the popular comedy promo video With a T.
