Weltch Media racing driver James Holman crashed out of both races when the Irish Digital Motorsport TCR simracing series headed to the USA last night (Wednesday 9th June).
James took the Weltch Media-liveried Audi RS TCR car to third place in both races at Imola last week, but was out of luck on the roval course at Charlotte last night.
James qualified 8th for race 1, but got involved in a crash, when he misjudged how early the car in front was braking. “I tried to let him rejoin but unfortunately he t-boned me,” said James, who ended up placed 27th.
In the second race, among slower cars near the back of the grid, he crashed out and had to pit. After repairs, he worked his way through the field to finish 14th.
Both races were won by Jason Cooper, who took the lead on the last lap both times. You can watch a replay of the races here.
James competes in Legends Car racing in real-life, but with the Irish Championship (as well as other series around the world) disrupted by the pandemic, he has been focusing more on sim (simulated online) racing.
Next week, the TCR series moves to Nurburgring (Germany), followed by Zolder (Belgium), and Hockenheim (Germany).
Last year, James competed in a hotly contested international Legends Car sim racing series, based in Scandinavia and featuring drivers from around the world.
