Our sponsored Torquay United women players Danni Wyatt and Nikki Caunce are joining their team mates to help fundraising efforts for team manager Grant Fisher.
Grant’s business, Morgan’s Hair Supplies, in Paignton was the victim of a burglary, which involved the theft of £20,000 worth of stock and damage to the building.
“[We were] alerted by neighbours and police that our unit had been broken into of which my whole savings and money had gone into to start and provide and income for our family and better way of life had been taken,” Grant explained on a fundraising page.
“Our life has been turned upside down by truly devastating events,” he added.
The team has stepped in to help by aiming to run 1899 miles throughout April – 1899 being the year Torquay United AFC was founded.
“We would truly be grateful to anyone who can help us rebuild our business,” said Grant.
“As if it wasn’t tough enough right now as we are looking at the distinct possibly of not re-opening our doors again or certainly anytime in the near future, as we have no money in reserve.
“Thank you in advance and rest assured you’ll be getting a small family business back up on its feet.
“We have only ever traded one day in our life from this building due to covid and unfortunately due to lease complications never had contents insurance through no fault of our own.”
If you would like to support Nikki, Dan and the rest of the team in helping Grant, the fundraising page is here.
