Our client’s new film, Help Me First!, has been released free-to-view online.
The spooky short horror film is a first live-action venture by Emmy-nominated animator Mike Gasaway (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron) and was premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas – the biggest genre film festival in the US –in September.
“It had a really positive reception at Fantastic Fest, and has been getting great reviews,” said Mike. “Someone even said it was more intense than some seasons of American Horror Story”.
The 10-minute movie is intended as a ‘prequel’ to a proposed supernatural horror feature, entitled Help Me!
“It’s a little odd in the fact that we are doing the ‘prequel’ first,” Mike told our companion blog Piece of Pink Pie earlier this year.
“I’m doing this because since I’m moving from animation to live action, I have to prove that I can do live action.
“Believe it or not, it’s been a sticking point for me. I’ve directed over 30 shows and yet that’s not enough for investors. So I decided to write a feature and then write a short that is the prequel to the feature.”
The reaction to Help Me First! suggests Mike has proved his point, and now the search is on for funding to realise the feature itself.
“We were originally looking for around $4 million, but I learned a lot from making the short, and I now believe we can complete it for as little as $2 million.
Help Me First! tells the story of three would-be ghost hunters, who enter a haunted asylum, and find more than they bargained for.
The film, which stars Maggie Carr, can be viewed on Vimeo here. It contains no sex or violence, and is suitable for all audiences – although we reckon it’s pretty scary!
Weltch Media has been handling publicity for the film, as part of our growing involvement in the arts and entertainment sector.
